From Concrete to Green

From Concrete to Green
Our school’s recess area is fully urbanized, causing extreme heat due to concrete surfaces. This makes it difficult for students to play outside and creates challenging conditions for educators supervising them. Through this project, we aim to build a shaded gazebo and create a green area using local flora to reduce heat and provide a healthier outdoor environment. The new green space will also support environmental education and contribute to our goal of becoming a UNESCO Green School. With the help of volunteers and generous sponsors, we hope to transform this area into a cooler, sustainable, and student‑friendly space.
To successfully transform our recess area into a cooler, greener, and more sustainable space, volunteers will support the project through the following tasks:

Assist with assembling the gazebo structure.
At least 1–2 volunteers with basic construction or carpentry experience would be allot of help!
Prepare the ground, enrich the soil, and plant local flora to create a cooler, greener environment.
Help move materials, paint designated areas, and support general setup tasks throughout the project.
Ensure the area is clean, organized, and ready for student use by completing final details and tidying the space.

(children aged 9 and above can participate)
